Our story is about a family and a project.
Michele Rossiello, a Puglia merchant who settled in Villach, bought Villa Azzurra in Grado, the nearest beach town to Austria, to alleviate his great nostalgia for his homeland and have a place to stay during the summer holidays.
It was his daughter Mara Rossiello and her husband Richard Soyer, who fell in love with the beauty and uniqueness of the lagoon, that recognized its tourism potential, transformed the villa into a hotel, and contributed to the development of Grado as a vacation destination.
This vision has been passed down through four generations, who, with their love for nature, work ethics, education, and desire for the future, have built a successful business and made this way of operating a strategy for economic, environmental, and social sustainability.
In 2022, 70 years after its establishment, the Savoy Hotel achieved a fifth star and voluntarily published its first sustainability report.
We became aware of this document a few years before the Covid-19 pandemic, at a workshop organized by the Italian National Trust (FAI). We were enlightened by it and developed a strong belief in the importance of understanding the company's impacts, communicating them clearly and transparently, and focusing on future goals.
The summer drought and autumn floods in 2021 have made this step even more urgent. So here we are, with our first sustainability report (which you can download in the "Sustainability" section), hoping that these good practices will make our long-term impact on the territory, environment, and community - which have given us so much - more positive.
