The lagoon

One of the most fascinating aspects of Grado surely pertains to its lagoon, a mosaic of brackish water and islets, traversed by fishing grounds and canals. Take a boat tour to discover the island of Barbana, the Grado fishermen’s casoni (small houses of straw) and a one-of-a-kind natural beauty. 
For birdwatchers, the Valle Cavanata Nature Reserve, just east of the lagoon, is a must-see destination! It is home to many species of birds including herons, swans, mallards, cormorants and flamingos to observe and photograph.
