What's new this year?

This is the classic question that we get asked every time we open for a new season. Yes, because every year there is some novelty, some improvement and now people expect it. And on the verge of the 71st season even more so, since we became a 5-star hotel! The first and only one in Grado and throughout the area that used to correspond to the province of Gorizia. There are many new things, but what I want to talk about is the bar, a renovation that we had planned for a long time and that kept us busy all winter between planning and construction. What makes it interesting is the mix between existing and new, between elegance and informality, between the hip mood of the pool and the green of the garden that seems to enter through the large windows. It's not clear what has changed, but the atmosphere is different, warmer, more welcoming, in some way elevated. New fabrics, velvet armchairs, iconic Venini chandeliers, marble flooring, some plants here and there, more space for wines, mostly from regional producers, a Berkel slicer in plain sight ready to slice San Daniele, jazz in the background.
Who knows if it will become the new meeting point: "I'll meet you down at the bar, in the meantime I'll sip a lavender Tom Collins."
